Adult Ballet Classes: Become a Better Athlete

Ballet helps all athletes improve flexibility, body awareness, agility, coordination, balance, timing and strength. Several successful NFL teams incorporate ballet in their training programs, have seen improvement in their players performance.

Balance and Stretch

Class Level: THIS CLASS IS FOR EVERYONE
The most important aspect of aging gracefully is having a strong and steady sense of BALANCE. Begin to MOVE with CONFIDENCE as you learn imperative techniques to rewire new pathways to the brain that have lost their power or have become weakened as your body has matured over the years.
The objective of the class is to be “FIT for LIFE” working on the most important area of fitness, BALANCE. You will learn a series of postures while incorporating breath work. I will teach you how to stabilize your spine, strengthen your core, and improve range of motion and flexibility while paying close attention to how you move your body, in a stronger more efficient way.

Iyengar yoga focuses on stretching techniques to improve flexibility, posture, spinal alignment and core body strength. In order to help students achieve correct body alignment, props, such as belts, wooden blocks, blankets and chairs, are used.

Kundalini Yoga – Group Class

Kundalini Yoga is the means by which we can safely activate energy to raise our consciousness. Specific sequences of asanas are taught to bring about a particular outcome or change of the body and mind. The Kundalini Yogi employs a wide range of breath techniques, using the rhythm and depth of breath to affect and manage different energy states of health, consciousness, and emotion.

Tribal Belly Dance is an organic and earthy movement style for women of all ages and body types. It blends traditional Middle Eastern dance with influences from around the world. In our classes, we build a community of women who share a common movement vocabulary. We learn to lead and follow each other. We tune in to each other. We exercise, we relieve our stress, we dress up in beautiful costumes, we support and encourage each other. And most importantly, we have LOTS of fun!
T’ai Chi – Group Class

From the CrossFit box to the athletic fields and every trail in-between, Angela is an expert in her field dedicated to keeping those in her community moving, playing, and living. Through personalized evaluation and treatment, she is passionate about understanding your goals and believes the key to long term success is empowering you with the education and tools for self-management – from day one to discharge.
Prior to founding PhysioFit Delaware, Angela worked for 12 years as a physical therapist, clinical instructor, and residency mentor in University of Delaware’s Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Clinic, while serving as a Research PT and Assistant Professor of Practice in the nation’s #1 ranked Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
As part of an elite group of physical therapists nationwide, Angela holds dual certification as a Board Certified Specialist in both Orthopedics and Sports by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. She provides continuing education at the professional level via national presentations on sports medicine topics and authorship of book chapters and journal articles on ACL and tendon injuries.
Angela is a fitness enthusiast and die-hard Philly sports fan. She played soccer for over 20 years, has completed several sprint triathlons and one (and only one!) marathon. These days you will find her up before the sun working out at her local CrossFit box. Angela enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, 3 young children, and lovable lab mix.
At PhysioFit Delaware, Angela brings her rich clinical experience, rooted in evidence-based treatment and cutting-edge research, to the private practice setting. She looks forward to working within the greater Delaware community to help others build, maintain, and engage in an active lifestyle via personalized, one-on-one care.

Provider —Katie Perry, RD, LDN
Katie has worked as a registered dietitian for over 7 years in a variety of different settings including pediatric, adult and elderly nutrition. Her primary focus during this time has consisted of bariatric and weight management nutrition, as well as nutrition-related disease prevention and management. She currently works as an outpatient dietitian at Nemours Hospital for Children providing nutrition counseling and group cooking classes to patients and their families.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Delaware in 2019. She is currently working on her Master of Science Degree in Community Nutrition at West Chester University and will be completing this program in the Spring of 2022. She is also perusing the Interdisciplinary Specialist Certification in Obesity and Weight Management credential; certifying comprehensive knowledge and expertise in obesity and weight management. She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2009 and has held various board positions on the Delaware Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group.
Katie provides a combination of nutrition education, helpful tools and reliable resources to empower clients to achieve their personal goals. Additionally, she serves as a source of accountability and provides support to overcome obstacles and maintain healthy habits for long-term success. She aims to provide realistic recommendations to promote sustainable change. Whether you are looking to achieve a healthy weight, improve your health, support your workouts with good nutrition, or simply add more variety to your current diet, Katie is here to guide and support you on your health journey.

Provider —Jennifer Vattimo, MS, RDN, LDN
Jennifer has worked in a diverse array of nutrition atmospheres such as long-term care, acute care, bariatric nutrition, and personalized nutritional counseling for over 9 years. She also has experience in children’s nutrition, eating disorders, and working with athletes. While pursuing a Master of Science degree, she provided sports nutrition education to several teams at West Chester University including swimming, field hockey, and lacrosse. In addition, she has also taught nutrition educational sessions at sports camps. She has a passion for helping athletes experience the beneficial effects of nutrition on performance. She currently works as an RDN providing nutrition counseling to both individuals and groups and also works as a clinical dietitian at St. Francis Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, and Millcroft Community Care.
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Delaware in 2006 and a second Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from West Chester University in 2008. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Community Nutrition from West Chester University in the spring of 2019. She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2009 and has served on several different board positions with the Delaware Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics including president and public relations chair. She has earned her Certificate of Training in Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a member of several dietetic practice groups including the Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition DPG and the Weight Management DPG. Jennifer is currently pursuing becoming Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics; the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States. In addition, Jennifer was a contributor to the sixth edition of the Sports Nutrition Manual. This published manual offers timely research and evidence-based advice for health professionals working with athletes at all levels.
Outside of the office, Jennifer enjoys competing in CrossFit competitions, distance running and weight training. She has coached CrossFit for over 5 years and ran over 7 half-marathons. As an athlete herself, she has found the connection and true importance of nutrition in athletic performance. Therefore, her ultimate passion is helping individuals fuel their bodies with quality nutrition so that they can perform at the highest level.
