Hatha Yoga – Group Class

Hatha yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations, which work to make the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

Iyengar Yoga – Group Class

Iyengar yoga focuses on stretching techniques to improve flexibility, posture, spinal alignment and core body strength. In order to help students achieve correct body alignment, props, such as belts, wooden blocks, blankets and chairs, are used.

Kundalini Yoga – Group Class

Kundalini Yoga is the means by which we can safely activate energy to raise our consciousness. Specific sequences of asanas are taught to bring about a particular outcome or change of the body and mind. The Kundalini Yogi employs a wide range of breath techniques, using the rhythm and depth of breath to affect and manage different energy states of health, consciousness, and emotion.

About the provider:
Dr. Perny is a proud graduate of Davidson College with a BS in Biology. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware’s top ranked PT Program. Several years after graduation, she chose to pursue her Orthopaedic Specialty Certification, and in 2011 was awarded her certification by the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Perny is one of a small group of orthopaedic specialists in the State of Delaware.
Provider —Jennifer Vattimo, MS, RDN, LDN
Jennifer has worked in a diverse array of nutrition atmospheres such as long-term care, acute care, bariatric nutrition, and personalized nutritional counseling for over 9 years. She also has experience in children’s nutrition, eating disorders, and working with athletes. While pursuing a Master of Science degree, she provided sports nutrition education to several teams at West Chester University including swimming, field hockey, and lacrosse. In addition, she has also taught nutrition educational sessions at sports camps. She has a passion for helping athletes experience the beneficial effects of nutrition on performance. She currently works as an RDN providing nutrition counseling to both individuals and groups and also works as a clinical dietitian at St. Francis Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, and Millcroft Community Care.
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Delaware in 2006 and a second Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from West Chester University in 2008. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Community Nutrition from West Chester University in the spring of 2019. She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2009 and has served on several different board positions with the Delaware Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics including president and public relations chair. She has earned her Certificate of Training in Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a member of several dietetic practice groups including the Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition DPG and the Weight Management DPG. Jennifer is currently pursuing becoming Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics; the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States. In addition, Jennifer was a contributor to the sixth edition of the Sports Nutrition Manual. This published manual offers timely research and evidence-based advice for health professionals working with athletes at all levels.
Outside of the office, Jennifer enjoys competing in CrossFit competitions, distance running and weight training. She has coached CrossFit for over 5 years and ran over 7 half-marathons. As an athlete herself, she has found the connection and true importance of nutrition in athletic performance. Therefore, her ultimate passion is helping individuals fuel their bodies with quality nutrition so that they can perform at the highest level.

About the provider
Jodi Hutchinson is approaching her third decade in the art of healing. She earned her graduate degree in Physician Assistant with honors. As a physician assistant she spent 18 years working on the cardiac surgery team in Wilmington, Delaware. World travels began professionally in 1990, when Jodi accompanied the heart team to China. This exposure to the Eastern way served as a catalyst for Jodi to further her studies and practices of Eastern Philosophy and the ancient healing arts. In 2001, she made the decision to leave her career to walk across the stages of the world studying with teachers having indescribable healing abilities. Currently, Jodi assists clients in their Refined Healing™ process, gives lectures and holds workshops.
